Partnership with Porter County Library System
On September 11, 2024, the NWIGS board resolved to enter a formal partnership with the Porter County Library system on future monthly meetings held in their facilities. They're excited about the free courses, educational resources, and information we provide to the community related to history and genealogy.
Refreshed NWIGS Logo
Sept. 21, 2024 - The NWIGS logo has been refreshed. While the previous version of the logo served us well, it was difficult to read at smaller sizes and we did not have high resolution versions of it for use at larger sizes. We hope that you like the new version of the logo.
TWIGS Newsletter Page Updated
Sept. 21, 2024 - The TWIGS Newsletter Archive Page available to Members has been updated. Previously, the filenames were for the year prior to the newsletters in the files. Additionally, the 2009 volume of TWIGS was missing. It has been scanned and included
New Databases
Sept. 21, 2024 - New databases have been added to the NWIGS website
- The most recent addition is an index of names appearing in Paul A. Davis’s Germania in Amerika articles published in the TWIGS newsletter from 2004 to 2015 which will soon be collected in a single place as Germania in America Volume 2, Maack–Zurbriggen.
- Members also have access to two new indexes of obituaries that appeared in the Chicago Sun Times in 2022 and 2023. They can be found on our Obituary Indexes-Newspapers page in the members area
